Yoga and Sustainability

Every week I ask my guests to recall the best piece of advice a woman has ever given them

Every week I ask my guests to recall the best piece of advice a woman has ever given them

My guest on this weeks HER Conversations  is Lisen Ydse Christiansen founder of The Sumati Concept a company that hosts worldwide retreats that combine the philosophies of yoga and sustainability.

Another aspect that is unique to Lisen is that she has a corporate career in a waste management company and still travels.

During our conversation, we talk about her early life and how her experiences of loss and self-harming behaviour shaped her. The advantage of being creative in a corporate environment. And her vision for The Sumati Concept.

As well as teaching yoga in the traditional setting, Veronica shares her gifts through her specially created online programs and guided meditation audios.

During this episode, we talk about how and why she chose spirituality over religion, developing a connection with angels and also the reason she wanted to begin her own podcast series.

Every week I ask my guests to recall the best piece of advice a woman has ever given them.

This week on HER Conversations my guest is Stacie Graham, founder of Yoga and Holistic Wellness company OYA Retreats. Her company has a very specific USP in that it caters solely to women of colour.

Personally, I have never felt exclusion or if there was any, paid attention to comments or questions about my presence in mainstream yoga spaces. However, I now realise that my curiosity outweighed any desire for representation which again makes me a minority, therefore, the work that Stacie does is needed at present.

This episode is for everybody. Women of colour can know that there is a safe environment for them to explore yoga and holistic offerings and women who do not identify as such can become aware of why companies like OYA exist.

During our conversation Stacie shares:
Instances, where she felt being a woman of colour, has been an issue in mainstream classes
How coming to events by OYA serves to address those issues
And why she thinks the work may never be done

Every week I ask my guests to recall the best piece of advice a woman has ever given them.

My conversation this week is with Kerry Wilde. She is a yoga teacher,  reiki practitioner and female empowerment mentor. However, I particularly wanted to highlight her womb alchemy work.

In order for us women to fully reclaim our sovereignty, we each have healing to do.

As we delve into the deep discovery of ourselves, uncovering and releasing trauma/shame it ultimately leads to us acknowledging the power of our womb as Kerry affirms ‘the creatrix of all life.’

It is also time we address the negative associations and often offensive connotations around words such as vagina, cunt and pussy. Kerry talks about their true definitions and powerful origins.

She also tells about the transformative power of crystal wands and yogi eggs.
